DAUGHTER-IN-LAW CAKE

4 cups all purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 heaping teaspoon soda
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 cups raisins

Cook raisins in 2 cups water and let boil for 15 minutes. Set aside to cool then add 1 cup cold water.
Mix together all dry ingredients, except soda and then stir in the raisins, water and oil.
Mix soda with 2 tablespoons hot water and add to other ingredients. Mix well. Put into 3 prepared cake pans and bake at 350 degrees for appoximately 30 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Beat together 1/4 cup margerine, 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar, 2 or 3 tablespoons milk, 1/2 tablespoon Maple flavoring. Spread on cake.
