Asparagus and Tomato Salad

2 pounds fresh asparagus
1/3 cup plain yogurt
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
dash freshly ground black pepper
1 cup diced tomatoes (about 2 medium)

Rinse asparagus thoroughly. Gently bend each stalk until it snaps. Stalks should break where the tough ends begin; discard tough ends. Stand the stems upright in a double boiler or steamer over boiling water. Steam for 10 to 12 minutes, or until just tender. Drain thoroughly. Arrange on a platter.
In a small container, combine yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt and pepper; mix well. Warm yogurt mixture slightly in a microwave oven or double boiler. Stir in tomatoes.
Pour yogurt-tomato mixture over asparagus. Serve salad at room temperature.
