Baked French Toast with Sweet Pear Topping

12 Tbsp prepared pear preserves
18 thin slices cinnamon raisin bread
8 large eggs
1 1/2 cups half-and-half
1 tsp vanilla
sweet pear topping (recipe follows)

Spray a 13x9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Spread 1 Tbsp pear preserves evenly on 2 slices of cinnamon raisin bread. Stack slices, preserves side up. Top stack with a plain bread slice; set aside. Repeat slices and preserves. Place stacks in a single layer in prepared baking dish.
In a medium bowl, whisk eggs until blended. Add half-and-half and vanilla, whisking until smooth. Slowly pour egg mixture over stacks. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Uncover baking dish, and let stand, at room temperature, for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350. Bake for 35 minutes or until center is set and top is golden brown. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Serve with sweet pear serving.
