Tomato Sauerkraut

1/2 cup sliced onion
2 Tablespoons butter
1 Tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 (1 pound 11 ounce) can sauerkraut, drained
1 1/2 cups tomato juice
1 bay leaf, crushed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup brown sugar

Cook onion in butter until tender but not brown. Blend
in flour. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer
30 minutes. Serve hot as an accompaniment to meat.
