  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 medium apples peeled and chopped
  • 2 cans (10 ounce size) diced tomatoes and green chiles undrained
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds toasted

Cook beef and onion in 12 inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally until beef is brown; drain.

Mix beef mixture and remaining ingredients except almonds in 3 1/2 to 6 quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on low heat setting 3-4 hours or until most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir in almonds.
