Rosemarys Spaghetti Sauce

This rich, flavorful sauce was Mom's best recipe. She used it for spaghetti and lasagna and it is wonderful. Sometimes I add more oregano and basil if I want a brighter flavor.

Serves 6 to 8. Serve over prepared spaghetti noodles.

1.5 pounds lean ground beef
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
2 cans (15 oz. each) tomato sauce
1 can (10 oz.) tomato paste
1 can (15 oz.) diced tomatoes (drained)
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon oregano
1 tablespoon basil
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese

Heat olive oil in a large frying pan, saute onion. Add ground beef, brown and drain. Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, and herbs. Simmer 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in parmesan cheese just before serving over cooked, drained spaghetti noodles.

This sauce works well for lasagna, too.
