BOURBON BURGER with CARAMELIZED ONIONS

1/2 sweet onion per person, sliced
1/3 lb. ground chuck per person
2 oz Italian or breakfast sausage per person
BBQ sauce [allow about 1/4 cup per serving]
Bourbon or whiskey [2 T per serving]
S & P
Mix ground beef with raw sausage and season to taste, making 2 sliders per serving. Make a small depression with your thumb in the center of the patty to ensure even cooking [this prevents the patty from puffing up in the middle]
Get the onions started by putting sliced onion into a skillet over medium low heat with a little butter and a drizzle of Olive oil. Let this cook down until onions are caramelized, giving them an occasional stir, about 20-25 minutes
