MOCK WHIPPED CREAM FROSTING

5 tbsp flour, sifted
1 cup whole milk
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Place the flour and milk in a saucepan. Whisk together over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool slightly. Cover the surface with plastic wrap to prevent skin from forming on top. Chill overnight.

The next day, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy in a large mixing bowl. Add the vanilla and add chilled milk mixture and beat until the frosting has the consistency of whipped cream. This is enough for a 2-layer cake.
