COUNTRY BEEF PATTIES

1 lb ground beef
2 uncooked bacon strips, diced
1 tsp minced onion
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
Tomato Gravy
2 tbsp chopped green pepper
1 tbsp chopped onion
1 (14 1/2 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1-2 bay leaves
1 tsp sugar and celery salt
1/8 tsp salt and pepper
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp flour
In a bowl, combine beef, bacon, onion, salt and pepper. Shape into four patties, brown in a skillet, over medium heat. Remove patties and keep warm. Drain all but 1 tbsp drippings, saute green pepper and onion in drippings until tender. Add tomatoes and seasonings.
Combine water and flour until smooth, add to tomato mixture, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil, cook and stir for 2 minutes. Return patties to gravy. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Uncover and simmer 10 minutes longer. Remove the bay leaves. Serves 4
