BEEF AND POTATO NACHO CASSEROLE

2 lb ground beef
3/4 cup chopped onion, divided
1 pkg taco seasoning mix
3/4 cup water
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 (4 oz) can chopped green chilies, drained
1 (16 oz) can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 (24 oz) pkg frozen O’Brien potatoes, thawed
1 can nacho cheese soup, undiluted
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1/4 tsp sugar
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Brown and 1/2 onion in the skillet; drain excess fat. Stir in next 3 ingredients and bring to a boil; simmer for 1 minutes. Spread mixture into a greased 13x9 inch baking dish. Top with chilies, beans and potatoes.
In a mixing bowl, combine remaining ingredients and pour over potatoes. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 1 hours. Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Allow to stand 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
