BAKED ZITI

1 lb dry ziti pasta, cooked al dente
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage; or a combination of both
2 (26 oz) jars spaghetti sauce
24-30 oz ricotta cheese
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp ground pepper
6 oz mozzarella and provolone cheese, sliced
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
While pasta is cooking, brown onion, garlic and meat over medium heat. Add sauce and simmer 15 minutes. Stir together pasta and 4 cups sauce. Combine ricotta cheese, eggs, Italian seasoning and pepper, mix well. Preheat oven to 350. Butter a 13x9" baking pan. Layer as follows: pasta, ricotta cheese mixture and remaining sauce and repeat layers. Bake for 45 minutes Top with cheese. Bake and additional 15-20 minutes or until cheeses melt. Serves 12
