Italian Bubble Bread

1 loaf Italian bread, cut on diagonal into 3/4 inch thick slices
12 oz unsalted butter, room temperature
3-4 cloves minced garlic
2 oz prosciutto, minced
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
Pepper
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, room temperature

Preheat broiler. Arrange bread slices on a baking sheet. Broil until golden brown on both sides.

Cream butter in a mixing bowl. When light and fluffy, whisk in garlic, prosciutto, 1/2 cup cheese. Spread one side of each slice with a thin layer of cream cheese. Spread garlic mixture on top; sprinkle with remaining cheese. Arrange slices on baking sheet. Just before serving, run bread slices under a hot broil until topping is hot and bubbly, about 1-2 minutes. Serve at once.

NOTE: The bread can also be baked at 400 for 6-8 minutes.
