1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 tbsp amaretto
1/2 tsp salt
4 (1 oz) squares unsweetened chocolate
4 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups flour
Frosting:
1/4 cup butter
2 tbsp half-and-half
Dash salt
1 (1 oz) square unsweetened chocolate
2 cups sifted confectioners sugar
2 tbsp amaretto
Sliced almonds
Combine shortening and chocolate in a saucepan; place over low heat, stirring until melted. Add sugar and stir. Remove from heat and cool. Stir in eggs and amaretto. Combine flour and salt; add to mixture stirring well. Pour batter in a 13x9 inch baking dish. Bake at 400 for 20 minutes. Cool.
Frosting: Combine butter and chocolate in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until melted. While stirring and combining, add half-and-half, then confections sugar, salt and amaretto, blending well. Frost brownies, sprinkle with almonds, cut into squares after frosting has cooled.
