ITALIAN SALSBURY STEAKS

1 lb ground beef
1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1/4 cup water
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 cup Italian salad dressing
2 cups thinly sliced onions
2 cups thinly sliced mushrooms
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1/2 tsp basil leaves

Preheat oven to 350. In medium bowl, thoroughly combine first six ingredients. Shape into 4 or 6 oval patties, then place in 1 1/2 quart oblong sprayed baking dish; set aside. In a medium skillet, heat Italian dressing and cook onions and mushrooms over medium heat, stirring occasionally, (5 minutes or until tender). Stir in tomato sauce and basil. Spoon tomato mixture over patties and bake 30 minutes or until done.
