BUTTERSCOTCH SUNDAY CAKE

2 1/4 c. sifted Gold Medal flour
3 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
1 3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. milk
1 t. vanilla
2 large eggs
Marshmallow Frosting:
2 egg whites
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. water
1/4 t. cream of tartar
1/4 lb. miniature marshmallows
Topping:
1/4 c. brown sugar
3 T. butter
3 T. water
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl. Add sugar, shortening, milk, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes. Add eggs; beat for 2 minutes longer. Bake in a 9x13 pan at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes.
For frosting, beat egg whites, sugar, water, and cream of tartar over boiling water until it stands in peaks. Add marshmallows; beat until marshmallows are melted. Spread over cake. For topping, combine ingredients and bring to a full rolling boil. Drizzle over frosting.
