TOFFEE BAR DESSERT CAKE

2 cups packed light brown sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 cup butter
1 large egg
1 cup buttermilk or milk
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 to 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped nuts
6 toffee bars, chopped

Combine sugar and flour, cutting int butter. Reserve 2/3 to 1 cup of mixture. To the remaininag mixture, add the egg and next 3 ingredients. Pour into a greased 13x9 inch baking pan. Top with reserved mixture, nuts and chopped candy. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
