GREEN BEANS WITH SUGARED WALNUTS

2 tbsp butter
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 tbsp sugar
2 lb fresh string beans, trimmed

Melt butter in a heavy skillet and add walnuts. Lightly brown, then add sugar; mix well. Cook 3 minutes on medium heat. Set aside. Place green beans in a large pot with enough water to cover; bring to a boil. Cook until tender but not mushy. Drain and add to walnut mixture. Mix well and serve.
