FIREFIGHTERS FAVORITE CHILI

•1 tablespoon oil
•5 cloves of garlic, crushed
•1 pound bulk hot sausage
•1 pound ground beef
•3 28-ounce cans of tomato sauce
•15.5-ounce can tomato puree
•1 orange, red and yellow pepper, diced
•15.5-ounce can black beans
•15.5-ounce can kidney beans
•15.5-ounce can Great Northern beans
•15.5-ounce can pinto beans
•Chili powder to taste

Heat oil in heavy saucepan over medium-high heat. Add garlic and saute until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add sausage and ground beef and cook until brown, breaking the meat up with a spoon or spatula as it cooks. Add tomato sauce, puree and peppers at the same time. Simmer for a half hour, then add the beans. Add chili powder to your liking, stir to combine and then continue simmering for another hour or so.

Serves 6 to 8.
