CHINESE STYLE BARBECUE SAUCE

3/4 cup prepared barbecue sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp peanut oil
1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
1/2 tsp each ground ginger and finely minced garlic
6 tbsp hoisin sauce
1/2 cup sherry

Combine ingredients in a small saucepan and simmer gently for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
