ITALIAN SAUSAGE, PEPPERS AND ONIONS OVER FETTUCCINE

1 lb Italian sausage
2 tbsp olive oil
1 lb Italian sauce
2 medium onions, sliced
1 green bell pepper, seeded and sliced
1 1/2 cups canned crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup red wine
1 1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp minced garlic
1 lb fettuccine, cooked al dente

Heat oil in skillet. Add sausage and cook, turning until done. Remove from skillet and drain. Add the onion and pepper to the skillet and cook, stirring , until just soft. Add next 4 ingredients and stir to combine. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes. Slice the cooked sausage into 1/4 inch pieces. Add to the sauce and stir to combine. Serve sauce over fettuccine.
