BROWNIES WITH A PEANUT BUTTER CRUNCH TOPPING - Easy

Category: Brownies/Blondies

1 pkg. brownie mix + its ingredients
1/2 c. salted peanuts
1 c. chopped peanut butter cups
1 1/2 c. milk chocolate chips
1 1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
1/2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
1 1/2 c. Rice Krispies Cereal

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.

In a mixing bowl, make the brownie batter according to package instructions. Spread evenly in your prepared baking dish and bake minus 4 minutes of baking time per instructions. Remove baking dish from the oven and immediately sprinkle top of brownies with the peanuts and chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups. Return to oven for 5 minutes more.

In the meantime, melt the milk chocolate chips, peanut butter & butter together in a medium saucepan over low heat. You may alternatively microwave mixture to melt it. Stir in the Rice Krispies cereal until it is evenly coated. Remove brownies from your oven and immediately pour the hot Rice Krispies mixture over the top. Refrigerate, uncovered, for at least 2 hours before cutting into bars.

* Leftovers can be stored in a covered container for up to 5 days.

Note: Whenever I make packaged brownies, I always use a tablespoon of pure vanilla extract in place of a tablespoon of the water called for in the instructions!
