HASHBROWN CASSAROLE

1 (32 oz) pkg frozen hash browns
1 (16 oz) container of sour cream
1 (12 to 16 oz.) pkg shredded cheddar cheese
1 can cream of chicken or mushroom soup
Mix all together and gently spread in a greased 13x9 inch baking dish. Cover with foil. Cook at 350 for 45 minutes. Remove foil and top with crushed sour cream and onion chips (sometimes I use plain chips, cheddar cheese chips, or salt and vinegar chips) and cook an additional 15 minutes.
Variation: Add 2 sticks butter, only 1 (8 oz) container sour cream, 1/2 medium grated onion, 1/2 tsp salt and 11/2 cups cornflakes, crushed. Mix the potatoes on bottom of 13x9 inch baking dish. Mix 1 stick butter, soup, cheese, sour cream, onion and salt. Pour mixture over hash browns. Mix 1 stick melted butter with crushed cornflakes. Sprinkle on top of the ban. Bake the same.
