HAM AND POTATOES AU GRATIN

4 cups diced potatoes
2 cups chopped green onions
5 tbsp butter and flour
1 1/4 cups each milk and whipping cream
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp yellow mustard
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp paprika
4 pimiento, diced
2 cups cheddar or gruyere cheese, grated
2 cups cubed ham
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
4 tbsp butter

In a saucepan, cook potatoes and onion together in lightly salted water until tender, 12-15 minutes. Drain.

Make white sauce by melting butter in a saucepan, adding flour stirring until blended. Cook and slowly stir in milk and whipping cream. Add next 6 ingredients. Stir until thick.

Place 1/2 of the cooked potatoes in a large buttered 3-quart casserole dish. Cover with 1/4 of the cheese, all of the ham and remaining potatoes. Pour white sauce over all. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Melt butter and stir in bread crumbs. Top onto casserole. Bake at 350 about 20 minutes.
