GERMAN-STYLE SPARERIBS

3 lb spareribs, cut into ribs
2 tbsp butter
1/4 finely chopped onion
2 tbsp dark brown sugar
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp prepared mustard
1/2 cup ketchup
3 cups sauerkraut, drained
1 large apple, pared, cored and chopped
2 tsp caraway seeds
In a saucepan, melt butter and add next 6 ingredients. Heat, uncovered, to boiling.
In a Dutch oven, place sauerkraut, apple and caraway seeded. Stir to combine thoroughly. Dip each sparerib into sauce and place on top of sauerkraut. Pour remaining sauce over the top. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until meat is tender. Serves 4-6
