STRAWBERRY TORTE

3 eggs whites
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp baking power, baking soda and salt
1 cup chopped nuts
10 saltine crackers, crushed
1 pint strawberries, sliced
1/2 pint heavy cream, whipped and sweetened with confectioners sugar, to taste

Preheat oven to 300. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Add sugar and beat until stiff. Add next 4 ingredients. Fold in nuts and cracker crumbs. Spread in a greased 9 or 10 inch pie pan. Bake for 30 minutes. Cool. Add strawberries and top with whipped cream. Refrigerate until serving time.
