CHICKEN WITH MUSHROOM SAUCE

8 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/2 cup butter and flour
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Garlic powder, salt and pepper, to taste
1/3 cup chicken broth or wine
8 boneless, skinless chicken brast halves
In a skillet, saute the mushrooms in butter until tender. Remove and set aside. Reserve butter in the skillet. Combine flour and seasonings and coat chicken pieces, shaking off excess. Brown chicken in skillet over medium heat. Return mushrooms to skillet. Add broth to remaining flour mixture, whisking until smooth. Fold in cream and then pour over the chicken and mushrooms. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Cover and simmer about 20-25 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink. Serves 6-8
Serve over cooked rice.
