SIRLOIN STEAK WITH MUSHROOMS

1 1/4 lbs cubed boneless sirloin
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
1 large clove garlic, minced
1 tsp dried basil
3/4 lb mushrooms, sliced
2/3 cup beef broth
2/3 cup dry red wine
2 tsp soy sauce
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
2 tsp corn starch
1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
Chopped fresh parsley
Brown meat in a skillet with 1 tbsp butter and olive oil. Add minced garlic. Ad mean browned, remove to a casserole.
Preheat oven to 350. In the same pan, melt remaining butter and saute mushrooms, when just about done, add basil. Add to meat; bake, covered, for 45-50 minutes.
Meanwhile, to same skillet, add broth, wine and soy sauce. Bring to a boil, stirring up brown bits. Turn down to medium and add mustard, cornstarch and cream. Bring back to a boil, whisking until smooth and creamy. Blend sauce with meat and mushrooms and sprinkle with parsley. Serve with rice or noodles. Serves 4-6
