BASIL TOMATO BREAD WITH CHIVE CREAM CHEESE SPREAD

2 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 sm. piece ginger
1/4 cup dried basil
1 scallion, cut into 1 inch pieces
3 tomatoes, seeded and quartered
1 tsp tomato paste
1 1/4 cup sugar
3 large eggs
1/2 cup butter, at room temperature and quartered
Chive Cream Cheese Spread (recipe below)

Put flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt into a food processor and process for 2 seconds. Remove and reserve mixture. Process ginger root, basil and scallion for 2 seconds. Add tomato and tomato paste and process for 10 seconds until pureed. Add the sugar and process for 30 seconds. Add eggs and process for 1 minute. Add the butter and process until fluffy. Add the reserved flour and turn machine on and off 5 or 6 times until the flour has disappeared. Spread dough in a greased loaf pan and bake in a 350 for 40 minutes.

Chive cream cheese spread:
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, at room temperature, cut into 4 pieces
1 large scallion, cut into 1 inch pieces or a bunch of chives
1/8 tsp Tabasco sauce

Process all ingredients until well mixed.
