BOW TIES WITH ASPARAGUS

1 1/2 lb bowtie pasta
1/3 cup olive oil
1 lb bacon, diced
1 tbsp minced garlic
1/2 lb asparagus, peeled, cut diagonally into 1 inch pieces
1/4 cup finely diced red bell pepper
1 tbsp minced parsley
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 cup grated Romano cheese
Cook pasta and drain well, reserving 1/2 cup of cooking water. Return pasta and reserved water to the cooking pot to keep pasta warm.
Heat oil in a saute pan over medium heat. Add bacon and garlic, and saute about 5 minutes or until bacon is beginning to crisp. Add asparagus and red pepper; saute for an additional 5 minutes or until asparagus is crisp-tender. Remove from heat.
Toss vegetables into hot pasta; then toss in parsley, salt and pepper, and cheese. Serves 6
