FUDGE SUNDAE DESSERT

4 oz bar German sweet chocolate
1 large can evaporated milk
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
24 chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
chocolate sauce
12 oz container whipped topping

Garnish: nuts, cookie crumbs or mini chocolate chips

Melt first 5 ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, boil for 6 minutes; cool completely.

Mix cookie crumbs and melted butter together and press into a 13x9 inch baking dish. Freeze 30 minutes. Let ice cream stand for 15 minutes at room temperature; spread over cookie mixture. Freeze 30 minutes.

Pour chocolate sauce over ice cream. Freeze 30 minutes. Cover with whipped topping and spr9inkle with toppings. Freeze 24 hours. Let stand at room temperature 5 minutes before serving.
