LEMON TEA BREAD

2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup milk
2 tsp grated lemon peel
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Glaze:
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/3 cup granulated sugar

Preheat oven to 350. Grease a loaf pan.

Sift together flour & baking powder and set aside.

Beat butter & sugar until fluffy. Beat in flour mixture alternately with milk (beginning & ending with flour). Stir in lemon peel and nuts. Spoon batter into pan and bake 55-60 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.

While loaf is baking, mix sugar and lemon juice in a small saucepan to make glaze.
Pour glaze evenly over loaf as soon as it is removed from oven.

Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove to a rack and let cool completely before serving.
