FARMERS COUNTRY RIBS

2 1/2 lb country-style ribs
1 1/4 cups chopped onions
2 clove garlic, minced
1/3 cup butter
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tbsp cider vinegar
2 tbsp chili paste with garlic, optional
Blanch ribs in simmering water for 30 minutes. Drain.
Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, cooked onions and garlic in butter over low heat, stirring for 15 minutes or until softened. Add the remaining ingredients. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes. Arrange ribs in a shallow baking dish. Spoon sauce over ribs.
Bake at 375 for 20 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350. Brush with sauce. Bake 20 minutes more. Turn meat over. Brush again with sauce and bake another 20 minutes. Serve hot or slightly cooled.
