ASPARAGUS CHICKEN CASSEROLE

3 lbs chicken or chicken pieces
Salt and pepper
1/3 cup oil
1/4 cup flour
1 cup milk and water
1 onion, chopped
1/4 lb bacon, chopped
1 (15 oz) can asparagus cuts, undrained
2 chicken bouillon cubes
1 tbsp lemon juice
3 oz cheddar cheese
2 tbsp chopped parsley
Preheat oven to 350. Heat oil in a skillet. Cut chicken into serving pieces; season with salt and pepper. Brown in oil and remove from skillet and place in a casserole dish. Add onion and bacon. Saute until onion is clear. Add flour. Remove pan from heat. Add milk, asparagus, bouillon, lemon juice and salt and pepper. Return pan to heat. Stir until sauce boils and thickens. Stir in grated cheese. Pour sauce over chicken and bake 45-55 minutes or until chicken is tender. Stir in parsley.
