COCONUT DESSERT CHEESE SPREAD

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, room temperature
2 tablespoons orange liqueur (Contreau, Grand Marnier or Curacao)
1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
1/2 to 3/4 cup sweetened coconut
Fresh fruit and/or cookies
In small bowl with electric mixer, beat cream cheese with liqueur and powdered sugar until smooth.
Spread coconut evenly on a plate.
Drop cheese mixture into center of coconut and form into a ball using fingers or a spoon. Mixture will be fairly sticky. Roll ball in coconut until well coated or sprinkle coconut onto ball and gently press in. Refrigerate several hours or days.
To serve: Using a thin metal spatula transfer to a serving dish, bring to room temperature and serve surrounded with pieces of fresh fruit and simple cookies or gingersnaps.
