CHOCOLATE OATMEAL REFRIGERTOR COOKIES

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 (2 oz) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda and salt
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Cream together first 5 ingredients. Blend in chocolate. Sift together dry ingredients before blending into creamed mixture. Stir in rolled oats and nuts. Mold in a roll 1 1/2 inch in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill thoroughly several hours or overnight.

Heat oven to 350. Slice dough 1/4 inch thick. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes.
