CHOCOLATE OAT CHIPSTERS

3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
2 (2 oz) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda and salt
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup crisp rice cereal
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional

Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease cookie sheet. In a large cream first 3 ingredients until light and fluffy. Add next 3 ingredients; blend well. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Add remaining ingredients, stirring to blend. Drop by rounded tspfuls 2 inch apart onto prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 9-13 minutes or until set. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets.
