CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE COOKIES I

1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 1/2 cups sugar
12 oz pkg chocolate or mini chips
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional

Beat first 3 ingredients and add next 2 until light and fluffy. Melt 1 cups chips. Stir in batter. Stir in dry ingredients, along with remaining chips. Drop by tbspfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes or until firm around edges. Remove from sheets to cool.
