SPAGHETTI MILANO

Category: Pasta - Meat

1 lb bulk Italian sausage or ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup each, diced red and green bell peppers
1 carrot, peeled and minced
1 clove garlic, minced
2 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1 (4 oz) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
1 (6 1/2 oz can minced clams, drained
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp each dry basil, thyme and pepper
1/2 pkg spaghetti, cooked al dente and drained
3 tbsp butter
Grated parmesan cheese

Saute first 6 ingredients. Drain excess fat. Add sauce, paste, mushrooms, clams and spices. Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes. Toss drained pasta with butter and sprinkle with cheese. Serve sauce over spaghetti. Pass extra cheese if desired.
