* KIELBASA AND SAUERKRAUT CASSEROLE*

1 1/2 lbs smoked kielbasa sausage, cut into 1/2 inch thick slices
1 1/2 lbs sauerkraut, rinsed under cold water and squeezed dry
2 medium onions, sliced thin
1 tbsp vegetable oil
3/4 cup chicken broth
1 tsp dijon-style mustard
Pinch ground cloves
Heat oil in skillet and saute sausage and stir until lighly browned, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and drain.
In the same skillet, drain all but 1 tbsp oil and saute onions until wilted and golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add sauerkraut and stir until evenly distributed. Stir in the remaining ingredients and stir the ingredients to release any brown bits in the pan. Remove from heat.
Arrange half the mixture evenly over the bottom of a casserole dish. Place sausage slices, overlapping, in layer over sauerkraut. Top with remaining sauerkraut in an evenly layer. Cover with foil and bake until juices are bubbling and sausage is heated through, about 20 minutes. Remove casserole from oven and let stand about 5-10 minutes before serving.
