SHRIMP WITH CREAMY TOMATO-BASIL SAUCE

2 cups penne, cooked
1 tsp olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1/2 cup fresh basil, loosely packed
1 tsp bottled minced garlic
1 1/2 cups smooth marinara-style pasta sauce
1/3 cup heavy or whipping cream
1 lb already-peeled raw shrimp, fresh or frozen
Heat oil in a skillet and saute onion until tender, about 3 minutes. While the onions cook, rinse the basil, pat dry and removed leaves from the stems. Set aside. When the onions are soft, reduce heat to medium. Add the garlic, pasta sauce and cream to skillet. Reduce heat to low; stir well. Add shrimp to skilled. Simmer, stirring frequently until they turn pink, about 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, coarsely chop basil and set aside. When the shrimp are done, remove from skillet from heat and stir in the basil. Drain the pasta and place a portion on each serving plate. Top each serving with shrimp and sauce and serve at once. Serves 4
