MOLASSES SUGAR COOKIES

3/4 cup melted shortening
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg, well-beaten
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Melt shortening and cool. Add sugar, molasses and egg. Sift all dry ingredients and add. Mix well. Chill dough.

Form dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees.

Makes about 3 dozen.
