SPICED CHRISTMAS STARS

1/2 cup butter and packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup honey
3 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg and salt
Red ad green candied cherries, halved
Blanched whole almonds
Walnut halves

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and honey; beat until smooth. In a medium bowl, combine dry ingredients and gradually to creamed mixture; stir until soft dough forms. Divide dough in half. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 350. On a lightly floured surface, use a floured rolling pin to roll out half of dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut cookies using a 4 inch star patter. Place 2 inch apart on greased baking sheet. Cut a 3/4 inch hole in center of each. Decorate tops of cookies with cherries and nuts. Bake 6-8 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to wire rack to cool. Repeat with remaining dough and store in air tight container.
