APPLE MYSTERY DESSERT

Dessert
3/4 cup flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Dash of mace and cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups chopped peeled tart apples
3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Cinnamon Hard Sauce
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Dash salt
1 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

Heat oven to 350. Great a 9 inch pie pan. In a bowl, combine dry ingredients; mix well. Stir in vanilla and eggs; blend well. Add apples and walnuts; mix well. Pour into greased pan. Bake for 20-40 minutes or until browned and firm to the touch.

In a small bowl, combine hard sauce ingredients. Beat at high speed until well blended. Shape into a 2 inch thick roll roll or press into molds. Wrap in plastic wrap; refrigerate until firm. To serve, cut hard sauce into slices or unmold and place on each wedge of dessert. Serves 6-8
