APPLE KUCHEN VII

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 large egg
2 tsp grated lemon peel
1 (21 oz) can apple slices, drained and mixed with 1/2 cup golden raisins and 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Heat oven to 350. Grease a jelly-roll pan. Mix flour and baking powder. In a large bowl, beat butter and confectioners sugar with mixer until pale and fluffy. Beat in egg and lemon peel. Mix on low speed, gradually add flour mixture. Remove 2/3 cup dough.

With floured fingers, pat remaining dough over bottom of prepared pan. Spread apple mixture over dough, using spatula to bread up apples if needed to cover dough to edges of pan. Roll reserved dough into long ropes and lay diagonally across filling to cream a lattice effect. Bake 30 minutes or until top is golden brown. Cool in pan. Dust with confectioners sugar before cutting.
