Shelly's Recipe

* CHOCO-PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES*

1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 cup peanut butter
3/4 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup water
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups quick-cooking oats
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
4 tsp shortening
1/3 cup chopped peanuts

Preheat oven to 350. Cream first 3 ingredients until fluffy. Blend in the next 3 ingredients. Add combined dry ingredients and mix well. Cover and chill 1 hour. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatting by pressing down a bottom of a glass dipped in sugar, into a 1/4 inch thick circle. Bake 8-10 minutes. Remove to rack to cool.

Melt chocolate chips with shortening, stirring until smooth. Top each cookie with 1/2 tsp melted chocolate. Sprinkle with chopped peanuts, pressing down. Let the chocolate harden before storing.
