CHINESE BBQ PORK ROAST

1-2 1/2 pound slab pork spare ribs
3 tablespoons hoisin Sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons catsup
1 tablespoon sherry
3 tablespoons honey or plum sauce
1/8 teaspoon five fragrant spices
Dash of MSG
Split ribs partially on the membrane side. Spread the mixture on both sides of ribs and let marinade stand overnight. A zip lock bag or glass covered dish works well. Remove ribs from marinade, reserving marinade.
Arrange ribs, meaty sides up, in a single layer on rack in a foil-lined broiler pan. Brush with reserved marinade. Cover and cook at 325 for 1 hour. Brush ribs with marinade. Cook, uncovered, brushing occasionally with marinade, until done, about 45 more minutes. Slice to serve.
