1 box white cake mix
3 eggs
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/3 cup milk
2 cups boiling water
1 (6 oz) pkg lime gelatin
Marshmallow icing
2 egg whites
1/3 cup water
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
1 tbsp light corn syrup
2 cups miniature marshmallows
1 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl, combine first 5 ingredients. Beat on low speed to blend, then beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour batter into greased and floured 13x9 inch baking pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until cake tests done.
Cool cake in pan, and poke holes over entire surface using a skewer or long-tined fork. In a medium bowl, stir boiling water into gelatin and stir until gelatin dissolves. Pour over cake, ensuring that the cake is evenly covered. Refrigerate cake until well chilled and frost with icing.
Icing: In a double boiler, combine first 5 ingredients. Beat with a hand mixer until stiff peaks form, about 4 minutes. (Be sure to occasionally scrape bottom and sides of pan.) Remove from heat. Add marshmallows and vanilla, and continue to beat until marshmallows are melted and icing reaches spreading consistency, about 2 minutes.
