CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER TORTE

1 pkg devils food cake mix
1 1/3 cups water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup chunky peanut butter
1 (8 oz) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1/2 cup confectioners sugar and chopped dry roasted peanuts
1/4 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 13x9 inch baking pan with cooking spray and dust with flour. Set aside a glass dish for trifle. Place first 4 ingredients in a bowl an mix until just combined. Scrap down dish and continue to blend about 1 1/2 - 2 minutes or until batter is smooth. Pour into prepared pan and bake about 35-38 minutes. Remove from oven and cool completely on a wire rack, about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, place cream cheese and next 3 ingredients in a bowl and blend until combined. Set aside. Run a sharp knife around the edges of the pan and invert onto a cutting board. Cut into 1 inch strips lengthwise, then width-wise for 1 inch squares. Layer 1/3rd of the squares in the trifle dish, pressing down gently. Dollop 1/3rd peanut butter mixture on top of cake and spread to cover. Repeat layering 2 more times. Sprinkle with peanuts and chocolate chips. Cover with plastic wrap and chill at least 2 hours before serving.
