GERMAN RED CABBAGE SALAD

Category: Cabbage

5 slices bacon, fried until crisp, remove from pan reserving grease and crumble
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp vinegar
1/4 cup red or white wine
1/2 head red cabbage, shredded
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tbsp caraway seeds

In the pan with the bacon grease, add sugar, vinegar and wine. Stir and cook until sugar is dissolved. Pour hot mixture over cabbage. Toss with remaining ingredients. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon. Serve at room temperature.
