COUNTRY FRIED CORN

6-8 large ears sweet corn
2 large green peppers, diced
1/2 cup flour
1 tbsp sugar
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 cup shortening or bacon grease
1/4 to 1/2 cup cream
Heat grease in a skillet. Clean and cut corn from the cob, cutting about halfway through the kernels. With the back of the knife, scrape the cob to remove the rest of the corn. Mix the corn with the remaining ingredients and add to the skillet. Fry, stirring frequently to prevent flour from browning. Pour the cream into the skillet, stir and put the heat on low. Cover with lid to allow the corn to tenderize and thicken, about 5-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent from sticking.
